APRO Industrie chosen to construct the permeate storage facility for the largest seawater desalination plant in the Sultanate of Oman.
In 2016 the SUEZ Group was awarded a contract to construct and operate a new seawater desalination unit at Barka, on the outskirts of Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman.
This plant will produce 280,000 m3 of potable water per day by reverse osmosis. This will be in addition to the 120,000 m3 already produced each day by an earlier unit constructed to supplement the “Barka II” electricity generating plant project which began operating in 2006.
The new unit is designed to meet Muscat’s potable water needs and will be the country’s largest seawater desalination plant.
This is the background against which Apro Industrie was chosen to supply and install two reservoirs for storing five million litres of permeate (de-mineralised water).
